The Story Behind the Name

Our Story

Where It All Began

A grandmother's jewellery box.
A granddaughter's dream.

It started with a memory. A young girl sitting at her grandmother's dressing table, watching as she opened an antique jewellery box lined with faded velvet. Inside lay a small collection of pieces, not extravagant, not ostentatious, but each one carried a story. A necklace worn on a wedding day. Earrings gifted by a mother. A bracelet that had crossed continents and decades.

That girl was Elara. And those quiet moments at the dressing table planted a seed that would grow into something extraordinary.

Years later, surrounded by the rolling hills and ancient oaks of the Forest of Bowland, Elara founded Aeternah. A jewellery house built on a radical idea: that in a world of mass production and disposable fashion, there was still a place for pieces that meant something. Pieces that would be worn, loved, and passed down.

The Name

Aeternah

The name Aeternah is derived from the Latin aeterna, meaning eternal, everlasting, timeless. It's a word that carries weight. A word that speaks of things that endure when everything else fades.

We chose it because it captures everything we believe in. That beauty doesn't have an expiry date. That craftsmanship outlasts trends. That the most precious things in life are the ones that connect us across generations.

Our Philosophy

Less, but
better

In a world that tells you more is more, Aeternah whispers something different. We believe in fewer pieces, made with greater care. In designs that don't shout but speak quietly and confidently.

Every Aeternah design is limited to just 500 pieces worldwide. This isn't a marketing tactic. It's a promise. A promise that what you own is rare. That the woman across the room probably doesn't have the same piece. That when the 500 are gone, the design retires forever.

This is jewellery for women who understand that true luxury isn't about logos or price tags. It's about meaning.

Our Vision

"To create jewellery so beautiful, so timeless, and so rare that it becomes part of your family's story."

We envision a world where jewellery isn't disposable. Where a necklace bought today is worn by a granddaughter fifty years from now. Where each piece carries not just beauty, but memory, emotion, and connection.

Aeternah exists to make that world real. Four collections a year. 500 pieces per design. Designed in a picturesque village on the edge of the Forest of Bowland and packaged by hand. Created for generations.
